Pakistan signs MOU for a 10 billion tree project in Saudi Arabia

A MoU has been signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia for large-scale tree planting in Saudi Arabia. Pakistan will provide technical assistance for a 10 billion tree project in Saudi Arabia.

A delegation of Saudi Ministry of Environment has arrived in Pakistan to implement the agreement. The Saudi delegation will observe plantation sites, including Pakistan’s expertise in tree planting.

In a press conference with the Saudi delegation after the signing ceremony, Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, said that green diplomacy between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is officially starting from today.

Aslam highlighted that Pakistan’s green vision is being welcomed in the world. “The world is now seeing our green vision as a model. The agreement with Saudi Arabia is also due to this vision. Saudi Arabia has set a target of planting 40 billion trees in the kingdom and the Middle East under the Green Initiative, for which Pakistan will share its expertise and experience with the Saudi government.”

On the occasion, Dr Khalid, CEO of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, said Saudi Arabia is going to carry out large-scale plantations in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East under the Green Initiative.
