President Arif Alvi on Thursday signed the Electoral Reforms Bill 2021, days after the joint session of the Parliament gave it a go-ahead with a majority vote.

Following the president’s nod, the Electoral Reforms Bill 2021 has now turned into law.

Addressing the signing ceremony, the president congratulated Prime Minister Imran Khan for his untiring efforts aimed at introducing electoral reforms in the country.

“All previous elections are marred by the rigging allegations,” he said adding that holding elections through electronic voting machines (EVMs) would ensure free and fair polls and eliminate rigging allegations.

Yesterday, President Arif Alvi signed 31 bills passed by the joint sitting of Parliament on November 17, including the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Bill.
