US-China trade deal will be signed by the mid of November: Trump

According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said he thinks a trade deal between the United States and China will be signed by the time the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings take place in Chile on Nov. 16 and 17.

“I think it will get signed quite easily, hopefully by the summit in Chile, where President Xi and I will both be,” Trump told reporters at the White House, without providing details.

“We’re working with China very well,” Trump also said.

The White House has announced that China agreed to buy up to $50 billion (38.6 billion pounds) of U.S. farm products annually, as part of the first phase of a trade deal, although China seems slow to follow through.

Govt seven member committee will hold talks with Fazl ur Rehman

Govt has taken decision to prevent possible Azadi March by JUI (F). For that purpose seven member committee has been established to hold talks and negotiate with JUI (F)

Committee includes Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar, Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood and Noorul Haq Qadri.

The seven-member team formed by the government will talk to Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the Azadi March where Pervez Khattak will head the negotiating team.

Earlier, Pervez Khattak said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman must have talks with government because no one will find anything walking into a street with dead-end.

PM Khan appreciates economic team for great achievements with in a year

Prime Minister Imran khan on friday tweeted to appreciate economic team for improving economic state of country with in a year.

In his tweet, Prime Minister Imran khan outlined that the country’s exports have increased by 5.9 per cent and the imports have declined by 18.5 per cent.

He further stated that with in a year the current account deficit has decreased substantially and it hit 41-month low in September this year.

It was also mentioned in the tweet that remittances from overseas Pakistanis grew by 17.6 percent and foreign direct investment has increased by 111.5 percent and foreign private investment has climbed by 194 per cent.

Pakistan successfully avoids FATF Blacklist, will remain on greylist till Feb 2020

Pakistan avoided FATF blacklist successfully when FATF formally announced on Friday that Pakistan will remain on its grey list till February 2020 and acknowledged the recent measures to stop money laundering and terror financing.

The global watchdog while recognizing Pakistan’s progress towards money laundering and terror financing, said: “The FATF strongly urges Pakistan to swiftly complete its full action plan by February 2020.”

“Otherwise, should significant and sustainable progress not be made across the full range of its action plan by the next Plenary, the FATF will take action,” the statement cautioned.

“Since June 2018, when Pakistan made a high-level political commitment to work with the FATF and the Asia-Pacific Group (APG) to strengthen its anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terror financing (CTF) regime and to address its strategic counter-terrorist financing-related deficiencies, Pakistan has made progress towards improving its AML/CFT regime, including the recent development of its money laundering / terror financing risk assessment,” the FATF conceded.

“Pakistan should continue to work on implementing its action plan to address its strategic deficiencies,” the statement added.

On Oct 14, a Pakistani delegation headed by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar attended a crucial session the Financial Action Task Force in Paris. The mission apprised the meeting that Pakistan has made positive progress in 20 out of twenty-seven points.

In the session, China, Turkey and Malaysia appreciated Pakistan’s steps taken out in accordance with the FATF’s action plan.

 

GIDC case fixed for hearing on Oct 22 by Supreme Court

Supreme Court of Pakistan has fixed the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) for hearing on Oct 22.

For that purpose notices has been issued by Registrar office of Supreme court to Attorney General and other concerned parties.

A three member bench of Supreme Court comprising of Justice Musheer Alam, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will hear the case. Justice Musheer Alam will head the bench on Oct 22.
