Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday brushed aside the threat by India to limit palm oil import from Malaysia.

As part of retaliation against the Southeast Asian nation, for criticizing New Delhi’s recent actions on Kashmir, Indian traders decided to limit importing palm oil from Malaysia.

“We speak out our minds and we do not retract and change,” Kuala Lumpur-based daily The Star, quoted Mahathir telling reporters at the Malaysian parliament.

“We felt that the people of Kashmir had benefited from the resolution of the UN, and all we are saying is that we should all abide, not just India and Pakistan, but even the U.S. and other countries. Otherwise, what is the need of having the UN?” he exclaimed

Prime minister Mahathir further said that it was necessary to speak out on issues, even though such remarks are disliked by some.

“Sometimes, we have to have strained relationships but we want to be friendly with people. Malaysia is a trading nation, we need markets and so, we are nice to people also,” he said. 

“But, also, we have to speak up for people. So, sometimes what we say is liked by some and disliked by others,” he added.

 

US urges India to respect Human Rights and restore full access to services in Occupied Kashmir

United States on Tuesday urged Indian authorities to respect human right and restore full access to services, including internet and mobile networks in Occupied Kashmir.

Alice G Wells, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, said this in a statement submitted to the subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Nonproliferation of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.

She further told the committee that “The US State Department remains concerned about the situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir Valley, where daily life for the nearly eight million residents has been severely impacted since August 5,”

Wells told the Congressional subcommittee a day before the hearing on topic “Human Rights in South Asia: Views from the State Department and the Region” that “… the Valley has not returned to normal,”

Wells further said that the State Department has raised concerns with the Indian government regarding detentions of residents and political leaders, including three former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir.

She further exclaimed that “While exact figures are difficult to ascertain, we understand several thousand people have been detained many without charges – under the Public Safety Act- over the past two months”

Diplomats visit LOC to see reality of Indian Bluff

Diplomatic corps reached the Line of Control (LoC) to visit the sectors hit by the Indian unprovoked firing last week, and see reality of New Dehli’s claims regarding destroying three alleged terrorist camps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. 

Dr Muhammad Faisal, in a tweet, said the Indian side has not joined the diplomatic corps in the visit to LoC. He said they have neither provided coordinates of the alleged “launchpads”.

Yesterday, the Foreign Office extended an invitation to the entire diplomatic corps to visit the restive LoC to inspect the areas hit by Indian shelling. It said the Indian Charge de affairs was also invited to prove the claim of his army chief before the foreign diplomats.

Radio Pakistan reported that The diplomatic corps visited Jura, Shahkot and Nousheri’s sectors on Tuesday.

DG ISPR takes a dig at Indian High Commission for not standing with its army chief who claimed to have destroyed three terrorist camps in Azad and Jammu Kashmir.

Earlier, Pakistan invited the Indian High Commission to visit the site where army chief who claimed to have destroyed three alleged terrorist camps in Azad and Jammu Kashmir. But Indian high commission refused to join the diplomatic corps to visit the site and see the truth.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet that “What good Indian High Commission is which can’t stand with its Army Chief? Indian High Commission staff didn’t have the moral courage to accompany fellow diplomats in Pakistan to LOC.”

Meanwhile, diplomatic corps visited Jura, Shahkot and Nousheri’s sectors to see the reality of Indian Army Chief’s bluff on Tuesday.

Capt(R) Safdar arrested over hate speech against state institutions in Lahore

Capt(R) Safdar, PML(n) leader and son in law of Former Prime Minister, has been arrested over hate speech against state institutions.

Capt(R) Safdar was arrested from Ravi Toll plaza lahore on Monday late night. SSP Lahore Police confirmed the arrest.

During appearance of Maryam Nawaz in accountability court Capt(R) Safdar delivered a provocative and hate speech against state institutions.

Police registered an FIR against him under section 124A. He will be presented before Anti Terrorism Court today.

Pakistan is moving forward through CPEC projects, PM Khan

At inaugural ceremony of China Hub Power Generation Plant in Balochistan today, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan is moving forward through China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) projects.

Premier further said that “This is the first joint project under the CPEC umbrella and he is very happy after inaugurating it. The government will facilitate joint collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese businesses in various sectors.”

PM Imran Khan said with the help of coal reserves in Thar, Pakistan can generate huge amount of electricity, which can be enough for at least 100 years.

He said till control over menace of corruption, we cannot attract foreign investment in the country. “We have to give Pakistan, a transparent governess.”

The premier, said a small group in past, looted country’s resources for its personal interests, but now the country is moving in a right direction.

About Balochistan, he said the province is rich in terms of natural resources and the incumbent government is paying special attention to uplift the province.

Misbah while announcing the squad said, “Our aim is to move up the Test rankings and begin the Test Championship strong. There is a need to play a different brand of cricket, the balance of the squads is reflective of us having options to play aggressive, attacking cricket”

Rally in Canada to Highlight Kashmir issue

Hundreds of people on Sunday carried out rally in Canada’s Montreal to express solidarity with occupied Kashmir against Indian atrocities.

Modi-led Indian government and demanded the international community to play role in resolving the dispute.

The protesters also highlighted the plight of innocent Kashmiri people and rejected the clampdown in the occupied valley. 


DG ISPR rubbishes the Indian army chief claim of destroying three camps in AJ&K

DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor strongly rejected Indian Army Chief claim of destroying three camps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

DG ISPR said on twitter, “Indian COAS’ statement claiming destruction of 3 alleged camps in AJK is disappointing as he holds a very responsible appointment. Indian Embassy in Pakistan is welcome to take any foreign diplomat/media to ‘prove’ it on the ground.”

DG ISPR further stated that the false claims by senior Indian military leadership detrimental to peace in the region.

“The propensity of false claims by senior Indian military leadership especially since Pulwama incident is detrimental to peace in the region.”

“Such false claims by the Indian Army are being made to suit vested domestic interests. This is against professional military ethos,” he added.
