Justice Umar Ata Bandial has been sworn in as the 28th Chief Justice of Pakistan. He will serve until September 16, 2023.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the President House in Islamabad and was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, current and former judges of the Supreme Court and other members of the legal fraternity.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath.

President Arif Alvi and PM Imran Khan congratulated Justice Umar Ata Bandial and assured him of their support.

The three services chiefs saluted him.

Later, the chief justice arrived at the Supreme Court where he was given a guard of honour.
