Babri Masjid

India’s top court announced verdict in favor of Ram Temple. Muslims will be given alternative land of five-acres.

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi announced the verdict. The verdict was unanimous and according to verdict a temple will be constructed in place of Babri Mosque in Ayodhya while Muslims will be given an alternate land within the city.

The historic Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992 by Hindu extremists who say the 16th century mosque is built on the site of Ram’s birthplace.

In 1992, the destruction of the 16th Century mosque by Hindu Extremists, sparked massive Hindu-Muslim violence that left 2,000 people dead.

The decision has raised alarm bells among Muslim minority who fear that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is following RSS ideology on turning India into a purely Hindu nation.
