Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed country wide crackdown against smugglers, hoarders and profiteers. Prime Minister took this decision while chairing a meeting in Islamabad where he directed the concerned authorities to take indiscriminate action against the smugglers, hoarders and profiteers.

He said that action will be taken against officers who failed to take action against hoarders. PM Imran Khan has directed 15 to 20 per cent decrease in the price of basic food items.

He said the government will not tolerate elements involved in smuggling of food items, resulting in artificial inflation across the country.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Interior to prepare and present a report containing details of anti-smuggling measures within 48 hours.

Imran Khan also directed that short, medium and long-term measures be taken keeping in view proposals of Anti-Smuggling Task Force.

Similarly, other institutions, including IB, ISI, and FIA, have been directed to present regular monitoring report on measures against smuggling.
